ABOUT

Our History

Helping Hands of Yuma (Formerly Greater Foothills Helping Hands), was founded by Lucille Arnold-Harris in 1996 when she recognized the need to provide support to the seniors in the community in order for them to remain living independently. In 1998 we received our 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable status. Helping Hands has grown from 2 volunteers in an office the size of a small closet to over 500 to date. Helping Hands has continued to grow year by year in order to meet the needs of our under-served senior community. In 2018, Helping Hands served over 650 care clients with our dedicated volunteers providing over 20,000 service hours, driving over 76,000 miles and completing over 6,000 services.

As we continue to grow, Helping Hands Continues to see the great need for increased community involvement through individuals, businesses, agencies, and churches. Today we continue to identify the changing needs our seniors face in our community, and diligently seek out new and better ways to meet them.
